Mjukstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt): 11-12; Mjukstrålar i analfenan: 10 - 12. Small pearly spots on side (Ref. 26938).

Prefers grassy bays, canals and nearby fresh water, avoiding tidal flats. Also found in marginal fresh waters. 18 cm max TL (Ref. 7251). Not a seasonal killifish. Is difficult to maintain in aquarium (Ref. 27139). Feeds on small crustaceans and other invertebrates (Ref. 26938).
