Etymology: Polyspondylogobius: Greek, poly = a lot of + Greek, spondylos = vertebra + latin, gobius = gudgeon (Ref. 45335);  sinensis: From the old name for China. Spine dorsali (totale): 4; Raggi dorsali molli (totale): 31-34; Spine anali 1; Raggi anali molli: 18 - 20. Live specimens semi-transparent. Preserved specimens brownish or yellowish, pale ventrally; middle of caudal fin with short grey band; fin membranes translucent.

Mainly found in brackish water, river mouths and tidal pools, but also near the bottom in shallow, sandy bays.
