Rückenflossenstacheln (insgesamt): 0; Rückenflossenweichstrahlen (insgesamt): 89-99; Afterflossenstacheln 0; Afterflossenweichstrahlen: 69 - 79. Similar to P. gigantea but differs from it by a small mouth (3.3.to 3.9 times in head length), few scales on the lateral line, few pectoral rays, and pale snout and jaws.
