Short description
Dorsal soft rays (total): 11 - 14; Anal soft rays: 8 - 12. Short obtuse snout. Lateral eyes. Head length 23.3-27.3% SL. 6-11 scales between posterior end of adipose to caudal fin base. Fins marked with spots forming 2-3 transverse bands sometimes irregular: 2 on dorsal and caudal, 1 on anal and ventral. Origin of anal often marked with dark spot. Adipose with dark round spot. Tip of dorsal red in adults. 2.5-6 scales between anus and anal fin origin. Individual blotches along lateral line not always visible. 7-11 transverse bands on back. Pectorals reaching origin of ventrals.
