Short description
Dorsal spines (total): 1114; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 14 - 18; Vertebrae: 53 - 57. Compressed body (Ref. 2835, 3036, 42908). Body depth 7.3 to 10.3 times in standard length; head length 4.2 to 5.2 times in standard length (Ref. 367). Head flattened (Ref. 367). Lower jaw prominent, longer than upper jaw (Ref. 367, 2756). Number of dorsal finlets: 11-14 (Ref. 42908). Number of branched dorsal and caudal rays: 20-26 (Ref. 2835). Pectoral fin reaching dorsal fin origin (Ref. 367). Ganoid scales (Ref. 42904): 50-59 lateral line scales, 40-46 scales around body, 11-16 predorsal scales (Ref. 367, Ref. 2835, Ref. 42908). Dorsal side yellow or green colored, ventral side paler (Ref. 2835), with irregular black transversal bands (Ref. 367, 2835). Head and fins with black spots (Ref. 367, 2835, 3069).
