Etymology: Ompok: It is a bad reproduction of a Malayam fish name as limpok/ompok (Ref. 45335).

Issue
This species is placed in the genus Kryptopterus in Eschmeyer (CofF ver. Jul. 2011: Ref. 87661) following Ferraris (2007: Ref. 58032). It is treated here under the genus Ompok following various authors. Please send references, or more studies are needed.
