Short description
Body flat and strongly compressed; eyes on left side of head; lateral line on the eyed side, with a pronounced arch over the pectoral fin but not extending under the lower eye; urinary papilla present on the eyed side; anterior profile of head markedly notched; eyed side light to dark brown, with small, diffuse, lighter blotches (Ref. 55763).

Found on hard bottoms (rocks, shell rubble, boulder and gravel strewn slopes). Glides over the bottom with wave-like motion when moving (Ref. 5227). Not commonly caught (Ref. 9281).
