Épines dorsales (Total): 7; Rayons mous dorsaux (Total): 9-10; Épines anales 1; Rayons mous anaux: 7. This species is distinguished by the following characters: no fraenum; no scales on breast and belly, body scales begin at the midlateral region below the first dorsal fin and fanning out posteriorly to form a wedge shape; head bars not merging (Ref. 9018).

Inhabits tide pools.
