Short description

Dorsal soft rays (total): 39 - 40; Anal soft rays: 42 - 43; Vertebrae: 72. Caudal fin not fused with dorsal and anal fins (Ref. 43281).

Found in lowland wetlands in dense vegetation (Ref. 57235). Occur on the bottom of shallow standing waters. Most common on grassy floodplains, often in water only a few centimeters deep (Ref. 12693). Possibly consists of multiple species (Ref. 57235).
