Dorsal spines (total): 7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-10; Anal spines: 1; Anal soft rays: 7. This species is distinguished by the following characters: no fraenum; no scales on breast and belly, body scales begin at the midlateral region below the first dorsal fin and fanning out posteriorly to form a wedge shape; head bars not merging (Ref. 9018).
