Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

Adults feed on fishes and mysids, Crangon antarcticus and Chorismus antarcticus (Ref. 5192). Spawning from end of summer to early winter and hatching occurs throughout winter. Eggs large, 2.4-3.4 mm in diameter, bright red and benthic (Ref. 5192). Synchronous spawner (Ref. 50743). Larval pelagic phase is long (Ref. 35742).

Life cycle and mating behavior Maturity | Reproduction | Spawning | Eggs | Fecundity | Larvae

Oocyte maturation occurs synchronously, thus, spawning is completed in a single occasion (Ref. 50743).
