Dorsal spines (total): 11 - 13; Dorsal soft rays (total): 6-7; Anal spines: 11-13; Anal soft rays: 8 - 11. Distinguished by having the following characters: dorsal fin with 11-13 spines and 6-7 segmented rays; anal fin with 11-13 spines and 8-11 segmented rays. Differs from other congeners by rhombic shape of caudal fin in adult males (vs. round or lanceolate with filaments) (Ref. 93137).
