Additional Characters Eggs are produced in a gelatinous floating mass or 'raft' where the eggs remain embedded until hatching (Ref. 240). The raft is shaped like a scroll, transparent and measures about 9 cm long (Ref. 47286). Eggs are initially oval (0.7 mm x 0.6 mm) then become spherical after one cleavage (Ref. 47286).
