Adult biology: Inhabits shallow water between dense algal growth. Feeds on bottom invertebrates.
Diagnosis: Less caudal rays than in Tripterygion cristatus. Finrays number at 11.5 mm: A 21; D 25, at 13.5 mm : D 3/29+3; A 22; C 3+11+3; P10; V 2. See also LARVAE table.
Climate Zone: subtropical; 46°N - 20°N
