Distribution: Eastern Atlantic: Balearic Island, and probably all western Mediterranean, includes the Azores; and from the Gulf of Guinea, based only on one adult and a larvae (Ref. 4455).
Adult biology: Burrows in sand or mud on the continental shelf (Ref. 4455).
Diagnosis: Very short dorsal fin, 5-6 sublateral caudal spots. At 12 mm 5 abdominal spots, last one before anus, 1 anal spot, and caudal pigment. 160-163 myom. incl. 74-79 preanal. Later 10-19 abdominal; 148-159 myomer. See also LARVAE table.
