Distribution: Eastern Atlantic: southern Portugal to Angola, including the Mediterranean. Western Atlantic: North Carolina, USA and northern Gulf of Mexico to northern South America (Ref. 7251). Nortwest Atlantic: Canada. Western Indian Ocean: including the Red Sea.
Adult biology: Found on the shelf, littoral, burrowing in galleries on sandy mud bottoms. Carnivorous. (Ref. 6521).
Diagnosis: At 8.0 mm several abdominal spots. 4 teeth in each jaw. 129-137 myomeres, of wich 64-70 preanal. At 10 mm 5-6 small spots on each side and 5 large dorsal chromatophores 127-136 myomeres. Sublateral punctuation of small oblique lines in myoseptums. See also LARVAE table.
