Distribution: Eastern Atlantic: northeast Atlantic south to about 20°N off the African coast, including western Mediterranean. Northwest Atlantic: Canada (Ref. 5951).
Adult biology: Oceanic, epipelagic or mesopelagic in warm and temperate waters. Feeds mainly on salps (Ref. 33689).
Diagnosis: Two dorsal fins with 10 and 23 rays respectively (9+24); A 24 (25). See also LARVAE table.
Climate Zone: subtropical
