Max. size:  3 cm TL (male/unsexed); 4.5 cm (female)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; brackish; pH range: 7.5; dH range: 4 - 15; depth range - 2 m
Distribution:  Central America: Papaloapan ecoregion in Mexico.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs mainly in shallow tributaries of a lake. Found also in shallow mouths of inlets along the shoreline. Occasionally forms large aggregations and prefers mainly very shallow depths of about 10 cm. Lives sympatrically with Xiphophorus hellerii.
