Max. size:  18.6 cm SL (male/unsexed); 18.4 cm SL (female)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 250 - 780 m
Distribution:  Southeast Pacific: Chile.
Diagnosis:  Vertebrae: 47-49. Head short (28-31% SL); upper jaw 11-13% SL, posterior margin extends to caudal margin of pupil; orbit diameter almost equal to rostrum length (8-9% SL). Large scales; 54-56 scales in transverse series above the lateral line. First ray of pectoral fin thicker, elongated and thread-like beyond base of pelvic fin. Testis divided into 2 lobes (Ref. 33629).
