Family:  Cynoglossidae (Tonguefishes), subfamily: Symphurinae
Max. size:  15 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 75 - 549 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: southern Florida, USA to the Lesser Antilles.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in deep water; on relatively deep soft mud bottoms on the outer continental shelf and upper continental slope (Ref. 26268).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 20 August 2012 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
