Family:  Cynoglossidae (Tonguefishes), subfamily: Symphurinae
Max. size:  9 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; brackish; marine; depth range 18 - 170 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: North Carolina to Palm Beach in Florida, USA; also Gulf Coast of Florida. Also recorded from Nova Scotia, Canada (Ref. 26268) and French Guiana (Ref. 27233).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits bays and shallow coastal waters. Collected primarily on live-bottom habitats. Found in estuarine rivers (Ref. 27233).
