Family:  Cynoglossidae (Tonguefishes), subfamily: Symphurinae
Max. size:  9 cm SL (male/unsexed); 7.89 cm SL (female)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 103 - 300 m
Distribution:  Southwest Atlantic: southeastern Brazil to Maldonado, Uruguay.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 87-95; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 73-81
Biology:  Inhabits muddy substrate. Size at sexual maturity of females around 5 cm SL (Ref. 26268).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 08 October 2020 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
