Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Schizothoracinae
Max. size:  50 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater, potamodromous
Distribution:  Asia: India and Nepal (Ref. 41236) and Bhutan (Ref. 40882).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found in hill-streams, in deep run backwaters. Mainly carnivorous. Breeds in the upper reaches of river and travels down after breeding. Known as a delicious table fish in Nepal (Ref. 40948).
