Max. size:  18 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 6 - 460 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: northeastern Florida, USA and northern Gulf of Mexico to Guianas; unknown from West Indies except off western Bahamas and Cuba. Also to Brazil (Ref. 26938) and Uruguay (Ref. 47377).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-11; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 12-12
