Distribution:  South America: Amazon River basin, in the upper Negro River drainage; Orinoco River basin, in tributaries of the upper Orinoco River (InĂ­rida and Atabapo rivers) to Puerto Ayacucho.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits rivers. May reach about 20 cm in height (Ref. 12251). Maximum length 18 cm TL (Ref. 13371).
