Family:  Myctophidae (Lanternfishes), subfamily: Myctophinae
Max. size:  6 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 90 - 1600 m, oceanodromous
Distribution:  Arctic to Atlantic Ocean: south of about 70°N to 47°N in the eastern sector and to about 40°N in the western sector.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  High-oceanic species. Found at 250-850 m during the day; at 90-325 m at night (Ref. 4775). Epipelagic to bathypelagic. Feeds on crustaceans (Ref. 58426). Sexually mature when 3cm long (Ref. 35388).
