Family:  Acanthuridae (Surgeonfishes, tangs, unicornfishes), subfamily: Prionurinae
Max. size:  60 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 5 - 35 m
Distribution:  Eastern Central Pacific: Gulf of California to El Salvador, including the Revillagigedo Islands.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found on shallow reefs, in schools (Ref. 9267). Feeds on algae in rocky areas (Ref. 9267).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 06 May 2010 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
