Family:  Triglidae (Searobins), subfamily: Prionotinae
Max. size:  35 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 9 - 183 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: Chesapeake Bay to northern Florida and Gulf of Mexico from southern Florida to Texas, occasionally rounding Cape Sable to southeastern Florida in USA.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Very common in bays. Young occur in estuaries.

Threat to humans:  harmless
