Family:  Pomacentridae (Damselfishes), subfamily: Pomacentrinae
Max. size:  6 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 5 - 25 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: widespread but known only from a few scattered localities.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 14-14; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-14; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 13-13. Description: Overall light brown to blue grey, ventral white, pectoral-fin base spot black, caudal peduncle saddle black continuous with upper lobe margin of caudal fin, caudal fin margin also black on posterior lobe. Body depth 2.7-2.9 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  A common species found in coral and rocky reefs areas exposed to ocean swells (Ref. 9710). Adults form loose groups near the bottom (Ref. 9710). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate (Ref. 205). Males guard and aerate the eggs (Ref. 205). Diurnal species (Ref. 54980; 113699).
