Family:  Pomacanthidae (Angelfishes)
Max. size:  33 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 1 - 25 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Gulf of Aden to Natal, South Africa and including Seychelles, Comoros and Madagascar.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 13-14; Dorsal soft rays (total): 17-19; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 18-19. Juveniles with stripes on head (Ref. 5953).
Biology:  Inhabits coral-rich reefs (Ref. 9710). Seldom seen in the aquarium trade.
