Family:  Phosichthyidae (Lightfishes)
Max. size:  18.4 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; marine; depth range - 350 m
Distribution:  Western Pacific: Japan, East China Sea, and the Philippines.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-13; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 28-33; Vertebrae: 43-45. Differs from all species of Polymetme in having more fusiform and elongated body and a smaller head; pyloric caeca 7; photophores above anal fin 16-18 (Ref. 41740).
