Distribution:  Africa: only known from the type locality, a small tributary of the Bari River (Lua River system, Ubangi drainage, middle Congo River basin) in Democratic Republic of the Congo (Ref. 39244).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-10; Anal soft rays: 21-22. Distinguished by the purple iridescence of the body in life and a conspicuous black humeral spot in preserved specimens (Ref. 39244).
