Max. size:  11 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: Sabine River in Louisiana and Red River in Oklahoma to Rio Grande drainage in Texas and New Mexico in the USA, and in Mexico.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in gravel and sand runs and pools of small to medium rivers, and also in impoundments.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 14 September 2018 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
