Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: Aldabra, Philippines, southern Great Barrier Reef, Fiji, and Palau.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 14-16; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 15-16
Biology:  Inhabit coastal waters with silt, sand, and rocks; also in mangrove areas, sometimes with P. formosus (Ref. 1602).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 29 January 2009 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
