Family:  Macrouridae (Grenadiers or rattails)
Max. size:  33 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 860 - 915 m
Distribution:  Western Central Atlantic.
Diagnosis:  Two large scutes present at snout tip; suborbital ridge developed; underside of snout scaly; gular part and branchiostegal membrane naked (Ref. 13608). Wide band of teeth in both jaws. Head fully scaled except for gular and branchiostegal membranes. Brownish violet with brownish color predominantly on tail and back. Snout and tips distinctly paler. Oral cavity dark (Ref. 37108).
