Max. size:  34 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 892 - 1000 m
Distribution:  Western Pacific: Japan and the Philippines.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 18-20; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 15-17. Teeth in 2 or 3 irregular series or in bands on premaxillary and dentary. Origin of anal fin more posterior than anterior 1/3 of body fin base (usually below the 12 to 15th dorsal rays). Body rather high and compressed. Branchiostegal rays 8. Attains 34 cm SL.
