Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 21-21; Anal soft rays: 3-3. Total rings 52-56, total subdorsal rings 6.25-6.75, dorsum of snout without bilateral patches of spinules (Ref. 35628). Anal fin minute (Ref. 35628).
Biology:  Presumed to favor depths greater than 30-40 m (Ref. 35628). Ovoviviparous (Ref. 205). The male carries the eggs in a brood pouch which is found under the tail (Ref. 205).
