Distribution:  Asia: Hainan, China.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 3-4; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-10; Anal spines: 2-3; Anal soft rays: 5-5. Papillated lips, closely situated nostrils, fully developed canals of the seismosensory system, ten branched rays in the dorsal fin, a large basicaudal spot, absence of scales on head sides and specific epidermal formations in adult males, no transverse bands on the body; a longitudinal black-brown serrated band on sides is developed only in the middle part of the trunk and seems to appear in adults only, absence of dark band from the snout tip to the occiput, all fins are not colored, and a free part of the airbladder is directly connected with the encapsulated part (Ref. 55470).
