Family:  Atherinopsidae (Neotropical silversides), subfamily: Menidiinae
Max. size:  12 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  pelagic-neritic; freshwater; brackish; marine
Distribution:  Western Central Atlantic: Colombia and Venezuela.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found over muddy bottoms in lagoons or bays with brackish or hyper-saline waters (Ref. 5217). Feeds on zooplankton.

Threat to humans:  harmless
