Max. size:  2.4 cm SL (male/unsexed); 2.3 cm SL (female)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; depth range 0 - 1 m
Distribution:  South America: Verde River and Crixás Açu River drainages of the Araguaia River basin in Brazil.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Collected from the shallowest parts of small streams, about 10-20 cm deep, locally known as Veredas or Buritizais (the streams are dominated by the buriti-palm Mauritia flexuosa), with orange clay bottom, in open vegetation of the Brazilian Cerrado. During the collection of the type series, the water was clear, pH 5.8 (Ref. 59346).
