Distribution:  Africa: Nkhata Bay, Lake Malawi, Malawi; has been introduced to Likoma, Namalenje and Thumbi West islands.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 17-18; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-9; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 7-8. Gill rakers on first ceratobranchial 11-12; gill rakers on first epibranchial 1-3.
Biology:  Occurs in the lake (Ref. 12251).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 20 June 2018 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
