Family:  Mormyridae (Elephantfishes)
Max. size:  35 cm SL (male/unsexed); max.weight: 469.0 g
Environment:  demersal; freshwater, potamodromous
Distribution:  Africa: Liberia to Ghana (Gold Coast). Also known from the Ouémé River in Benin.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 27-34; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 23-29. Dorsal fin origin on same level as anal fin.
Biology:  Affinities: M. meronai. Relatively close to M. furcidens which is found in the same geographic setting in Côte d'Ivoire. A fractional spawner (Ref. 10605; 10606).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 02 June 2019 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
