Family:  Zoarcidae (Eelpouts), subfamily: Lycodinae
Max. size:  20.4 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 0 - 825 m
Distribution:  North Pacific: Sea of Okhotsk to Arctic Canada.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 82-85; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 65-67; Vertebrae: 92-94. Caudal region very short, preanal length contained less than 2 times in TL; lateral line midlateral; head and belly without scales; sparsely distributed scales only extending to pectoral tip (Ref. 559). Body with saddle-like or Y-shaped blotches; white bands on nape and below eye (Ref. 559).
Biology:  Benthic; feeds on fishes and crustaceans (Ref. 58426).
