Family:  Aulopidae (Aulopus)
Max. size:  31.1 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 100 - 500 m
Distribution:  Western Pacific: Japan, East China Sea, Taiwan and Australia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 14-14; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 8-9. Distinguished from other Aulopus species of Japan in having fewer dorsal fin rays, and its orbit that is less than snout length. Second dorsal ray in males not prolonged; pyloric caeca 9-13 (Ref. 31559).
