Family:  Triglidae (Searobins), subfamily: Triglinae
Max. size:  18 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 50 - 175 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Durban, South Africa northward along the coast of Africa, to the Arabian Sea coast of Oman, Pakistan and India. Not found in the Red Sea or Persian Gulf.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 8-9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 15-17; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 15-16
Biology:  Found on the continental and insular shelves on sandy or muddy bottoms.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 21 June 2017 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
