Max. size:  9 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  pelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South America.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in the middle and upper reaches of rivers. Prefers rapidly flowing water of rivers and creeks with sandy and rocky bottoms. Herbivorous (Ref. 12225).
