Family:  Syngnathidae (Pipefishes and seahorses), subfamily: Syngnathinae
Max. size:  2.65 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 3 - 12 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Southwest Pacific: Australia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-13. Description: Characterized by absence of noticeable rings or tubercles on relatively smooth skin; rings 12 + 27 - 28; head and body is highly compressed (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Ovoviviparous (Ref. 205). The male carries the eggs in a brood pouch which is found under the tail (Ref. 205). Found in sand bottoms with sparse Zostera and Halophilia in 4-12 m (Ref 90102). Minimum depth reported taken from Ref. 128812.
