Family:  Sebastidae (Rockfishes, rockcods and thornyheads), subfamily: Sebastinae
Max. size:  45 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 80 - 215 m
Distribution:  Southwest Atlantic: [Uruguay to northern Argentina according to Ref. 27363]; south of Rio Grande to Argentina (Ref. 47377).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 12-12; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-12; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 5-5. Body orange-red dorsally; side more or less spotted or mottled with vermillion color; lower part pinkish white; dorsal fin membranes with dark spots and blotches; pectoral, pelvic and anal fins reddish (Ref. 27363).
Biology:  Viviparous (Ref. 34817).
