Family:  Cichlidae (Cichlids), subfamily: Pseudocrenilabrinae
Max. size:  15.6 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; depth range - 9 m
Distribution:  Africa: Lake Victoria.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs on exposed wave-washed beaches where the substrate is of sand, rock, or shingle. A few records were from more sheltered areas (Ref. 4983). Most of the specimens which were examined contained either macerated plant tissue or a mixture of plant tissue and insect fragments (Ephemeroptera larvae) (Ref. 558).
