Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to Lake Tanganyika; widespread.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults in aggregation roam over sandy bottoms. Probably carnivorous, feed on mollusks and diatoms (Ref. 6770). Females brood their young in the mouth (Ref. 86760).
